“Success is almost totally dependent upon drive and persistence. The extra energy required to make another effort or try another approach is the secret of winning.” Denis Waitley
I graduated from Kahlotus High School in 1984 as Co-Valedictorian of a class of seven. In 1988, I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Education. I landed my first teaching job at Elma High School in1988 and have been here since. By 1991 I earned my Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education from University of Idaho after completing a Japanese experience that compared USA & Japan's agricultural education systems.
While at Elma High School I have taught Introduction to Natural Resources (INR), Plant Biology/Botany, Adv. Ag Leadership (AKA: Zero Hour), 6th grade Woodshop, Animal Science, Metal Farm Shop, and more. I became certified as a Career & Technical Education (CTE) Director in 1996 and was hired as Elma School Districts CTE Director in 2008. My duties include teaching agricultural leadership part time, FFA Advisor, High School Web Master, and CTE Director.
My husband, Jim and I reside in Elma. We have three daughters who are active in a multitude of Elma school activities. I have helped coach youth soccer and basketball. I also volunteer as a 4-H leader, Grays Harbor Youth Livestock Auction committee member, and Grays Harbor Fair Sheep Barn Superintendent. For hobbies I enjoy gardening, water skiing, and scrapbooking.
